WHAT IS THE BEYOND CHRISTMAS OFFERING?
Each year as a Church family we approach the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons with both gratitude and generosity. It is important to reflect on the many ways God has shown His goodness to us over the past year, and it is also an opportunity to consider the ways we can show God’s goodness through our own generosity. For several years, one of the most significant acts of generosity we participate in as a church is a special year-end giving emphasis called the “Beyond Christmas Offering.” During the month of December, we encourage everyone to prayerfully consider making a sacrificial gift to this offering that is above and beyond your regular giving. This year our goal is to raise at least $40,000 in the month of December, all of which will be given to support specific mission opportunities locally, national and global.
The purpose of this offering is simple: to help alleviate suffering and to further the gospel of Christ. Sometimes those two go hand in hand. That is why we have chosen the following ministries to be recipients of this years offering:
LOCALLY, NATIONALLY & GLOBALLY
As a church we are committed to serving outside the walls of our church locally and globally. For this reason, the Beyond Christmas Offering will be used to support the following ministries:
LOCAL | SOUTH LAKE COMMUNITY MINISTRIES – SOUTH LAKE COUNTY
This organization oversees various service efforts within our local community as a ministry of The Church at South Lake. SLCM coordinates Buses n’ Backpacks, a weekly effort providing more than 60,000 meals annually to children in need, Brown Bags for Home, a ministry providing food and home visits to Senior Citizens and South Lake Aviation, a teen program that combines aviation training with adult and peer mentoring.

NATIONAL | MILESTONE CHURCH – BOSTON, MA
In 2015, Jay and Holly Mudd moved from central Florida to the town of Natick, MA to begin laying the groundwork for a new church in MetroWest Boston. In September 2016, Milestone Church held its first corporate worship gathering and one year later have grown into a church of 80-100 people, made up predominantly of people who are either attending and seeking to understand the message of Jesus, or have just recently come to faith in Jesus. With an aggressive plan to launch more churches in the MetroWest area, we are partnering with Milestone through both our financial support and with teams that will be serving and assisting their church throughout the upcoming year. For more info visit www.MilestoneJourney.org
GLOBAL | GRACE BAPTIST CHURCH – ST. THOMAS, US VIRGIN ISLANDS
For many in the Caribbean, 2017 was a year of devastation. Hurricane Irma left the island of St. Thomas heavily damaged, followed just two weeks later by Hurricane Maria, leaving the entire island with power. We believe one of the best ways we can help locals recover is to help the local church stand strong. Grace Baptist Church is a small fellowship in St. Thomas whose church facility was heavily damaged, but remains structurally sound. We are partnering with ABWE International to assist with raising the financial resources needed to help the church rebuild and by sending teams throughout 2018 to assist with construction and serving the community. HOW YOU CAN PARTICIPATE
You can participate in this opportunity by giving in one of three ways. First, you can give during any regular Sunday worship gathering offering by noting “Beyond Christmas” on your check or offering envelope. Second, you can give online at www.ChurchAtSouthLake.com. The third way to give is through our church app, designating your gift to the “Beyond Christmas” fund.
During the month of December we will be highlighting one of these ministries in detail during each of our Sunday worship gatherings. Would you be praying about how God is leading you to participate in this unique opportunity to make His name known? Together we really can be a part of being His witnesses “…to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8).
